Candy Corn Oreo Torte

Halloween is closing in on us, so I had to make sure to try out those Candy Corn Oreos! I made a delicious pudding torte with them. You have to try this!
Candy Corn Oreo Torte
Adapted from my Mom's Pudding Torte Recipe

Ingredients:
1 pkg Candy Corn Oreos
2 Tbsp butter, melted
4 oz. Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
1/2 cup Cool Whip, plus more for topping
1 pkg Butterscotch Pudding
2 cups Milk
1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
Candy Corn

Directions:
Place all but 2 rows of Oreos in a plastic bag and crush with a mallet or rolling pin.  Pour into bowl, scraping out any bits of the cookie that may stick to the plastic bag.  Mix in melted butter and stir until mixture is wet.
Press cookie mix into the bottom of an 8x8 square pan or baking dish.
In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and Cool Whip.  Using a spatula spread over cookie crust.
Take one more row of Oreos and chop into course chunks.  Set aside.
Mix pudding and milk per package directions. Stir in Pumpkin Pie Spice and Oreo chunks.
Pour into prepared pan.  Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Quarter the remaining Oreos.
Once set, cut torte into squares, top each square with Cool Whip, an Oreo chunk, and candy corn.
Enjoy the Halloween-goodness!

Jack Skellington Nails

Halloween might not be until next week, but you know the parties begin this weekend! I was reminiscing about my Jack Skellington Pops the other day and came across this pin with nail art I had to try for myself! Check it out!

Since I'm right handed, there was no way I was recreating that look using my left hand (LOL!) so I did a more simplified Halloween nail art design....

Halloween Makeup Ideas

Halloween is quickly approaching....have you decided what you are going as yet? I have been scouring Pinterest for some good ideas. I  was inspired by some designs and had too much time on my hands so I decided to try some of the looks myself. Here are 2 easy looks for Halloween.

The Vamp
Inspired for a Vampire look (or a really devious night on the town!)
For this look, my skin is already really pale, so I didnt do much there.  I did dark shadow and dark eye liner, but the part for me that really made the look was the lips.  I used black gel eyeliner to darkened the corners of my lips, then cover in a reddish gloss. Great for a goth or vampire look.

The Black Widow
For this look, again I did dark shadow and liner, then using a fine brush I drew out spider webs and spiders. I filled in a little with liquid liner to get it really black. As with the vamp look, I filled in the corners of my lips with gel liner as well as the center, and then coated with gloss.

The Two Faced Zombie
Last weekend was the Zombie Pub Crawl here in the Twin Cities.  This event is HUGE. I went a couple of years ago and had a blast, so a group of us went this year.  We are all big fans of The Walking Dead so this event was right up our alley. I did my face entirely myself using gelatin and makeup I already had in my case.  I also mixed up a little blood using corn syrup and drops of red and black gel food coloring.
And because I really like this pic, here is the instagram pic I took on the night of the crawl.

I hope these ideas have given you some inspiration!  So tell me, what are your Halloween costume ideas?!

Halloween Spiders and Bloody Nails

Happy Halloween! This may come as a surprise, but Halloween is not my favorite holiday. I actually don't like it very much. I don't like being scared, I don't watch horror movies, and I have a phobia about people in masks. Halloween is fun in theory, but really it freaks me out.
However, any excuse to make a fun dessert, well, I'll take it!
Sorry for the less than fabulous photography, its getting darker earlier now. I don't get very much daylight when I get home from work anymore!  Anyway....I made these little spider cakes for my coworkers.
I also thought I'd be festive and give myself a Halloween manicure. I followed this fun tutorial by Andrea, at Andrea's Choice.  Check out how it turned out!
The red polish is really very red, but looks orange in this photo.
This is about how festive I get for Halloween.  However, Thanksgiving and Christmas......now that's another story!
Whether this holiday is your thing or not, I hope you enjoyed it no matter what you did!

I'm Late!

Wait a minute....what do you mean its November? Really? How did that happen?!
It seems being punctual is not my strong suit. What can I say, my world moves at my pace. So yes, Halloween has passed, but I am just writing about it now.
I'm not big on Halloween actually. I don't like tricks, I cant resist treats....which leads me to guilt later, (which I hate) and I have issues with people in masks. Oh, and clowns. *shivers*
Oye.
Maybe my aversion to these things is why, I dragged my feet on getting it together for Halloween.
I did however, end up making my new favorite cupcakes, Pumpkin Pecan with cream cheese frosting. The client was having a fall themed party and loved my recent post that included my Autumn Cupcake Toppers. Fortunately for me, she only needed 1 dozen, and the recipe makes 2.5 dozen. Heh heh. I used the left overs to experiment with some simple Halloween designs. Check it out....

Simple, cute, and not really scary. My kind of Halloween treats. However, since I have no willpower when it comes to these cupcakes, I sent this batch to work with my boyfriend. Better them than me!

Jack Pops!

The other day, I'm reading blogs and come across a post by Kim at Frost Me. She had a variety of ideas for a Jack Skeleton party. You know Jack, from A Nightmare Before Christmas! Kim had posted an idea she found for making Jack Pops from marshmallows. I loved it! Check her post here. However, I like marshmallows, but really only when they are in smores or dipped in some kind of chocolate. The idea of just a plain marshmallow pop was just not that appealing. I modified this awesome idea, and used the template for his body (Check original source out here.) and made Jack Skeleton Oreo Pops!! I'm just giddy with excitement!

How cool is Jack?!
I stuck lollipop sticks in between oreos, then dipped in white chocolate. Once the chocolate was set I piped on his face with royal icing. I originally planned to use an edible food marker, but the chocolate was sweating and made it difficult to draw.
While I was on a roll, I thought I'd bust out a Jack-O-Lantern pop as well!

The chocolate got a little messy, I still haven't mastered this whole chocolate dipping business. However, I think they still turned out awesome, and of course, taste great!
Lets take one more look at Jack...

I'm so proud of him! He was a fun project to do! Try him out yourself for your own Halloween fun!
