What The Duck Is It?

I am so happy to share that my best friend Kelly is expecting baby number 2! You may recall the baby shower dessert table I designed for her first child, Isaac. Click HERE to see more about that.
Kelly and her husband Dave went for my suggestion of doing a gender reveal party for this baby. At their ultrasound the doctor put the gender in a sealed envelope which I picked up from them. I had to hold my excitement for about a week. We settled on the theme "What The Duck Is It?" so I made a duck cake and cupcakes, the inside was colored to represent the gender. Check it out!

So the question of the day...What the duck is it???

A BOY!!!!!

Congrats Kelly, Dave and Isaac!!!
Thanks for letting me be part of sharing the big news!

Star Wars Baby Shower Cupcakes

Believe it or not, I have not actually watched all of the Star Wars movies. I know, its like some kind of horrible crime against being an American, but its true. However, that didnt stop me from creating some Star Wars cupcakes for a couple celebrating their new bundle of joy! One of my favorite clients planned a Star Wars themed baby shower for her friends who are big enthusiasts of the films and I did the dessert!

I would say some witty quote from the movie like "May the force be with you new parents" but that doesnt really make sense since I've already admitted my ignorance to the films.
Either way, best of luck!

Lily Baby Shower Cupcakes

I adore lilies. The variety of colors, the big blossoms, they are a gorgeous addition to any garden. When I was recently asked to do lily themed cupcakes, I was really excited to try my hand at them! These cupcakes were made for an elegant pink and gray baby shower. The mom to be loved star gazer lilies and was planning to name her daughter Lily.

Real Party: Inspired Reader Baby Shower

I am so excited to share with you a real party from reader Tracy Wright! Tracy is a fan of Fairytale Frosting and shared with me a jungle theme baby shower she put together. Tracy used my African Oreos and Recycle Paper Palm Tree tutorials and came up with some pretty great ideas of her own! Check it out!
I have to admit, I think her trees turned out better than mine!
I particularly love that this sign mentions Darwin being excited to meet the new baby too.  Darwin is their dog! Its such a thoughtful touch!
Tracy put up jungle decals and these animal print takeout boxes. I love that she used them as both favors and part of the decor.
What a fun jungle chandelier!  Great way to incorporate some baby toys!
Great party Tracy! Thank you so much for sharing!

Birds and Books Baby Shower

Birds and Books, how cute is that for a baby shower theme?! Guests were asked to bring their favorite children's book to help build the baby's library. I was fortunate enough to make cupcakes for this party.  They were styled after the invitation.

Momma to Be and her Mini-Me!

My dear friend Leslie recently asked me to help her out with some goodies for her sister in law's baby shower. The couple doesn't know what they are having so the theme was blue polka dots and pink flowers. Leslie lives about 6 hours from me but we were getting together for the weekend near the baby shower.  I made cookies for  her as well as fondant decorations she could pop on the cupcakes and cake she planned to make.  Leslie also challenged me to make my first 3-D cake topper.  She wanted a pregnant woman in the likeness of her sister in law.  I've never made one of these figures before, so I was indeed challenged. The cookies were of course the easy part.....
Sweet and simple.
I have been a fan of Sharon Wee's work, so I studied the photographs of her cakes and adorable cake toppers. I managed to create one in a style similar to hers.  I have to admit, I literally jumped up and down for joy when she was finished.  I am just beaming I'm so proud to share her with you.....
I learned so much while making her.  I gained confidence in my own abilities, saw how I could do things better next time, but most importantly to me, I met a challenge head on and succeeded. Its something I've been thinking about a lot these days....meeting challenges that is.
Check her out close up....
Here is the cake/cupcake tower Leslie did.  How awesome is that tower?  Leslie made it!! How perfect to have everything, including the cupcake tower, coordinate together!

This is by far one of my favorite fan photos.....how cute is that thank you note!  I'm blushing I'm so touched!
Momma to be and her mini me!

Thank you so much ladies for letting me contribute to your adorable shower! A special thank you to Leslie for challenging me to get outside of my comfort zone. Love you girlfriend!

Pastel Jungle Baby Shower Cupcakes

Recently I did cupcakes for a jungle theme baby shower. The client sent me a photo of the plates she was using, so I modeled the toppers after those. It was fun to make jungle animals out of pastel colors!

We decided to do a mix of animal faces and 3D animals. I love how both sets turned out!

I think the blue giraffe is my favorite one....but the pink elephant is a close second!
Thanks for letting me make these fun little guys Ashley!

Flowery Girlie Baby Shower Cupcakes

Today I'm taking a break from the cookie posts!
Recently I did some cupcakes for a woman expecting a little baby girl. When I asked the client how she would describe the expectant mother she said "girlie, green-y, and flowery". She also mentioned a love of my Bundle of Joy cupcakes. So, this is what I came up with for her!

Lots and lots of girlie, flowery, greeny, and bundles of joy!

Here are a few close ups....

Baby buttons

Mamma and baby duckies

Elegant flowers with embossed fondant (its kind of hard to tell in this photo!)

Cute baby girl

And a sleepy baby girl.
These were fun to do, and oh so cute!
