Our Thanksgiving 2012

While everyone is kicking off their Christmas holiday posts, I'd like to share a little about my Thanksgiving!
Here are some pics of my dinner table.

I also tried something different this year, I wrapped my turkey in bacon! Bacon Wrapped Turkey
It was the most delicious turkey I've ever made! None of it was dry, it was juicy and tender and flavorful. Yum! My turkey may have turned out, but my pumpkin pie was kind of a disaster. However, I got creative with the crust scraps and made the best of it. It still tasted great!

Did you enjoy your Thanksgiving? Did you try any new recipes this year?

Cheese Ball Pumpkins

Need a fun fall appetizer for Thanksgiving? Try these cheese balls! They will be a great hit!
Cheese Ball Pumpkins
Slightly Adapted from Betty Crocker

Ingredients:
1, 8 oz. container of Cheddar cold pack cheese (such as Merkt's)
Ritz Crackers
Pretzel Sticks
Flat Leaf Parsely

Directions:
Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
Chill container of cheese in the freezer for 20-30 minutes until the cheese is very firm, but not frozen.
Scoop out cheese with half a tablespoon, roll into balls and place on baking sheet.  Continue until the cheese is used up.
Replace cheese balls into freezer and chill for another 15 minutes or so, until firm.
Use a toothpick to draw the lines like a pumpkin into each ball.
Stick half a pretzel stick into each ball and place on a ritz cracker.  Top with pieces of parsley leaves.
Enjoy!

Autumn Home Decor

September all the way through January is my favorite time for seasonal decor! I love decorating for autumn, Christmas, and in my circle January is a big month for birthdays, so I'm always hosting theme parties that month.  Today I'd like to share with you some of my autumn decor, thus far. Check it out!
I hope you enjoyed the mini tour of my decor. I still have some projects in the works, so hopefully I'll be able to add more this season!  Do you have any fun autumn decor projects?

Turkey Day!

I am back from my Thanksgiving holiday. I took a few days off from work so I could relax and unwind. I treated myself to a spa day at the Aveda Institute, and headed to Wisconsin to visit family and friends. I thought I would share some of the more creative and fun stuff from my family's Thanksgiving dinner.
My sister hosted her first dinner this year. We cooked the meal together. Here is our table setting!
We chose metallic accents and a modern printed fabric for the table runner.

I used scraps from the fabric to create a bunting centerpiece. It says Give Thanks on both sides of the pennants.
We also created mini bunting for the names at each place setting.

This was my favorite project though. I went to the Dollar Store and bought 3 silver trays. I spray painted them copper, and then used chalkboard paint in the center. I actually intend to put these on the wall in my dining room.
In addition to great food, family and friends, I decided to make a drastic change for myself. I've been thinking about donating my hair to Locks of Love. I don't really like having short hair, but I had enough length that its not too short.
Here is my new do! You need to donate a minimum of 10 inches, tied in a pony tail. I sent it in this week. My hair, I'm still getting used to it. But mine will grow back. I feel good knowing that my hair will help a child with cancer look and feel better about themselves. Me waiting for my hair to grow back is a small price to pay.
I hope everyone had a great holiday!
