Our Thanksgiving 2012

While everyone is kicking off their Christmas holiday posts, I'd like to share a little about my Thanksgiving!
Here are some pics of my dinner table.

Thanksgiving Table Thanksgiving Table Thanksgiving Dinner Turkey Day
I also tried something different this year, I wrapped my turkey in bacon! Bacon Wrapped Turkey
It was the most delicious turkey I've ever made! None of it was dry, it was juicy and tender and flavorful. Yum! My turkey may have turned out, but my pumpkin pie was kind of a disaster. However, I got creative with the crust scraps and made the best of it. It still tasted great!

Did you enjoy your Thanksgiving? Did you try any new recipes this year?

50 Shades of Grey Cupcakes

WARNING!
This post has X-rated Cupcakes in it.

Don't say I didn't warn you first.

Almost all of my girlfriends have read the 50 Shades of Grey books. Recently I went on our bi-annual girls scrapbooking weekend. I always officially/unofficially bring a dessert for the weekend so this time I thought it would be fun to bring some naughty cupcakes inspired by the books!

Foo Fighter Cupcakes

Are you a fan of the Foo Fighters? Then check out these cupcakes! I did these for a friend who wanted to present another friend with some really special personalized cupcakes for his birthday. He's a big Foo Fighter fan, and loved how these turned out.

Thanks for the opportunity Sue and I'm so glad Mike enjoyed them!

Cheese Ball Pumpkins

Need a fun fall appetizer for Thanksgiving? Try these cheese balls! They will be a great hit!
Cheese Ball Pumpkins
Slightly Adapted from Betty Crocker

Ingredients:
1, 8 oz. container of Cheddar cold pack cheese (such as Merkt's)
Ritz Crackers
Pretzel Sticks
Flat Leaf Parsely

Directions:
Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
Chill container of cheese in the freezer for 20-30 minutes until the cheese is very firm, but not frozen.
Scoop out cheese with half a tablespoon, roll into balls and place on baking sheet.  Continue until the cheese is used up.
Replace cheese balls into freezer and chill for another 15 minutes or so, until firm.
Use a toothpick to draw the lines like a pumpkin into each ball.
Stick half a pretzel stick into each ball and place on a ritz cracker.  Top with pieces of parsley leaves.
Enjoy!

Hello? Is It Me You're Looking For?

OK, OK, so Im breaking down and posting about this whole Facebook ordeal.  If you follow other blogs, this is probably old news.  Actually, I thought it was just one of those rumor things going around Facebook. But then I started noticing that less and less people are looking at my posts via Facebook. Now I know I didnt suddenly just become boring, so what the heck?  Oh yeah, all that hype, its not hype. Facebook really did take this stuff out of your newsfeed (its still in the ticker though) and apparently its to get us to try and pay for advertising.  I guess I don't have all the reasons as to why they changes stuff (its not like they ever tell us anyway!) but I do know how you can start seeing stuff from me again.  I hope you want to!  Here's a quick tutorial for keeping track of me and other pages you may like!

Step one is to go to my Facebook page and click the Liked button. If you havent created any lists yet, you'll select the Add New List button. This is just like categorizing your friends into lists. You can create them by subject, important stuff (add me there!) whatever your heart desires.
After clicking on the Add New List, a new box will open. Make sure Fairytale Frosting is selected. Then click Next.
You will then create a name for your list (you can totally be like me and use Awesomesauce!) select your audience and then click Done.
When you return to your newsfeed, on the left, you'll now show a section that looks like this. When new posts are in that newsfeed it will show by clicking on your Interest Lists.  Just like your "Close Friends" or "Family" lists.

I hope this helps everyone navigate the Facebook pages better, and I really hope you'll add me to your Interest lists!  I love my readers!!
Oh and because I think its funny, this is a picture I saw at our local Axman store.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

Thanksgiving is coming up quickly. This recipe is a great twist on a traditional pumpkin pie. I don't know about you but I love me some pumpkin pie! But cheesecake, its probably my all time favorite dessert. This is a delicious blend of the two! Yum!!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake
 Recipe from All Recipes

Ingredients:
2, 8 oz packages of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1, 9 inch graham cracker crust
1/2 cup pumpkin (fresh or canned)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 pinch ground cloves
1 pinch ground nutmeg
Cool Whip (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla.  Beat until smooth.  Blend in eggs. Remove one cup of batter and spread onto graham cracker crust. Set crust aside.
Add pumpkin and spices to the remaining batter. Stir until well combined.
Spread batter over the layer already in the pie pan.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until center is almost set.
Allow to cool.  Refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.
Serve with whipped topping.
